its 14th edition of the Best of Downtown, which
is based on readers' votes. San Diego Third District Supervisor Pam Slater -Price
was voted San Diego's best politician.
February
9, 2002 Supervisor Pam Slater-Price has been appointed to a
state committee that will review
efforts to protect
wetlands, open space and other natural resources. Mary
Nichols, the Secretary
of the California Resources Agency, appointed Slater-Price to the
61-member
Stakeholder Advisory Committee. The committee is working on
the
Legacy
Project, an effort to help government agencies and private conservation
groups make better decisions on conserving the state's
natural
resources.

22, 2001: CalCoast Board Member John Flynn, District
5 Supervisor in Ventura County, has had a health clinic
named for him after a unanimous vote of the Ventura County
Board of Supervisors. It's a great way to be honored for
a quarter century of service.

CalCoast Board Member Don Knabe, District
4 Supervisor in Los Angeles County, announced the commencement of the first phase of the Dockweiler State Beach capital project. The $11 million project is jointly funded by County of Los Angeles Prop A and State of California Prop. 40 bond funds.

Supervisor Tom Wilson, 5th District, Orange County

29, 2001: The Orange County 5th District Supervisor Tom Wilson, was given
the "Ruby Slipper Award" by the Building Industry
Association. Tom was recognized for his regional leadership
in creating the Orange County Coastal Coalition and bringing
together government, civic and non-profit organizations,
business and individuals to preserve and protect the Orange
County coast. Orange County 3rd District Supervisor Jim
Silva, co-chair of the OCCC was also recognized at the event.
Congratulations
to Supervisors Wilson and Silva for their work in creating
and co-chairing the OCCC, which has focused on preserving,
restoring and maintaining Orange County's beaches, ocean
water quality, tidepools, rocky coves and wetlands. The
OCCC meets the fourth Thursday of every month at the Newport
Beach Library, 1000 Avocado Avenue, Newport Beach.
